Maintenance…

It’s important to take good care of your stick for maximum results on game day.  If you happen to be a lax lover, like me, you may actually sleep with your stick, or sticks, by your bed, or even in your bed. ;p I have many “game ready heads”  ready to pop onto a shaft at a moments notice, as should you. One stick is never enough unless you are fulfilled by pounding the ball off the wall for hours by yourself. Thats not such a bad thing, but its always good to have one or more sticks to play with incase a friend comes by or even you get your chance to share the love of lax with a newcomer. That being said, always try to have your 1st in stick ready to go…what that means is that all strings are tied, and knots finished, its relatively dry, and ready to jump into the action when the coach gives you the nod.  Nothing made me crazier as a coach than having a guy ask me to tie, or fix a string ten minutes before games…That is unacceptable. Essentialy the lacrosse stick is an extention of you, you play with it, and love it, so take care of it like it was your dog…and never leave it outside in the cold…(your dog that is) and your stick too, ofcourse. All strings should be checked before and after each game, just incase wear and tear has caught up with it and it may be that time to change a top string or what have you. Essentially, keep a watchful eye on your old bud, so that it doesn’t end up getting sick, and thus needing a trip to the doc’s office.
